Wheelchair Accessible Guide to Coachella & Stagecoach 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Planning a wheelchair accessible Coachella 2026 experience? The Coachella Valley is home to two of the biggest music festivals on the planet — Coachella and Stagecoach. For wheelchair users and travelers with limited mobility, attending a major outdoor festival can feel overwhelming. But with the right preparation, you can have an incredible experience.

This guide covers everything you need to know — from ADA parking and viewing areas to what to pack and where to stay — so you can focus on the music, not the logistics.

Dates to know:

  • Coachella 2026: April 10–12 & April 17–19 | Empire Polo Club, Indio CA
  • Stagecoach 2026: April 24–26 | Empire Polo Club, Indio CA

Wheelchair Accessible Coachella 2026: Festival Accessibility Guide

Coachella has built one of the most comprehensive accessibility programs of any major music festival. Here’s what to expect:

Getting There: ADA Parking

A dedicated ADA parking lot (Lot 14C) is available for attendees with a valid Disabled Person Parking placard, permit, or license plate. ADA parking is free — no parking pass required. You’ll need to bring your DMV-issued documentation that matches your placard and your government-issued photo ID.

Pro tip: From the 10 freeway or Hwy 111, travel south on Monroe Street and follow signs to Lot 14C.

Accessibility Services Hubs

Your first stop when you arrive should be an Accessibility Services Hub. These are located throughout the festival grounds and are where you can:

  • Charge your motorized wheelchair or scooter (bring all cords — 110V, 20 amp circuit)
  • Receive an accessibility wristband and companion wristband
  • Request assisted listening devices
  • Connect with ASL interpreting services
  • Pick up sensory support bags (noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and more — free while supplies last)

Note: There is no pre-event registration required for most accessibility services. Everything is handled onsite.

Viewing Areas & Getting Around

Every stage has accessible viewing platforms with great sightlines above the crowd — and ADA assistants are stationed at each platform. The festival grounds are navigable for wheelchair users, though the terrain is grass, so be prepared for that surface. Motorized wheelchairs and scooters are encouraged. The festival does not provide rentals or transportation between stages, so plan your route and battery life accordingly.

Shuttles & Transportation

An accessibility shuttle is available from the Hotel Shuttle lot. Look for the Accessibility Shuttle Stop tent in the northwest corner of the hotel shuttle lobby. This will take you directly to the accessible entrance.

ADA Camping

Accessible camping is available and must be registered in advance. If you’re planning to camp, register early — spots are limited. Each camping area has accessible pathways, restrooms, and showers.

Service Animals

Trained service animals are welcome throughout the festival. They must remain harnessed, leashed, or tethered at all times. Note: emotional support animals, therapy animals, and pets are not permitted.

For specific accessibility questions, email ada@coachella.com. Expect a response within 2 business days (or within 24 hours during the event week).

Stagecoach 2026 Wheelchair Accessibility Guide

Stagecoach Festival — the country music counterpart to Coachella — takes place at the same Empire Polo Club grounds the following weekend. The accessibility program is equally strong.

No Special Ticket Required

There is no separate accessibility ticket to purchase. Your standard festival ticket is all you need. When you arrive, visit an Accessibility Services Hub to receive your accessibility wristband, which is valid for the full duration of the festival. One complimentary companion wristband is issued per guest with a disability.

ADA Parking

Free ADA parking is available with a valid Disabled Person Parking placard, permit, or license plate. You’ll need your DMV-issued documentation and a matching government-issued photo ID.

Accessibility Services Hubs

Stagecoach has three Accessibility Services Hubs located throughout the venue. These hubs are your go-to for:

  • Accessibility and companion wristbands
  • Wheelchair charging
  • Assisted listening devices
  • Medical assistance coordination

Viewing Areas & Getting Around

Elevated accessible viewing platforms are available at every stage. All concession stands are accessible. The terrain, like Coachella, is grass — so plan for that if you use a manual wheelchair. The festival strongly encourages guests to bring their own mobility devices, as rentals are not available onsite.

Accessibility Shuttle

Guests needing transportation assistance from the Hotel Shuttles lot can wait at the Accessibility Shuttle Stop tent in the northwest corner of the lobby. This takes you directly to the accessible entrance.

Accessible Camping

Accessible camping spots are available and pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Each camping lot has its own accessible section with mobility pathways, accessible restrooms, and showers. Spots are first-come, first-served for unregistered guests, so don’t wait.

Special Communication Requests

ASL interpreters are available for select performances. If you need closed captioning, braille, large print, or other communication support, you must email ada@stagecoachfestival.com at least 30 days before the event. The 2026 deadline for these requests is March 25, 2026.

Tips That Apply to Both Festivals

Plan for the Terrain

Both festivals take place on grass at the Empire Polo Club. Power wheelchair and scooter users will have an easier time than manual chair users. If you use a manual chair, consider renting a power wheelchair for the event — several local vendors in the Coachella Valley offer short-term rentals.

What to Pack

  • All charging cables and adapters for your mobility device
  • Extra batteries if applicable
  • Sun protection — desert heat is intense in April (bring sunscreen, hat, and a lightweight cover)
  • Medications in original containers with your name on them
  • A small bag (max 18″ x 13″ x 8.5″)
  • Earplugs or noise-canceling headphones for sensory breaks

Arrive Early

Give yourself extra time to park, check in at the Accessibility Hub, and get oriented before the crowds arrive. Accessible viewing platforms fill up, so arriving early gives you the best spots.

Heat Awareness

April in the Coachella Valley means temperatures can reach 90–100°F during the day. Stay hydrated — both festivals have water stations throughout the grounds. ADA assistants at accessible viewing areas also distribute free water. Plan for shade breaks and consider the cooler evening hours for your biggest shows.

Where to Stay: Why a Private Accessible Vacation Rental Beats a Hotel

For wheelchair users, where you stay can make or break your festival experience. Hotels in the area often have accessible rooms, but they fill up fast, come with long hallways, elevator waits, and crowded breakfast areas.

A private accessible vacation rental gives you something hotels can’t: the entire space is yours.

Indio Access is a fully wheelchair accessible vacation rental located just minutes from the Empire Polo Club. Designed with mobility in mind from the ground up, the property features:

  • Step-free entry throughout the entire property
  • Wide doorways and open floor plan
  • Private heated saltwater pool and hot tub — fully accessible
  • Fully stocked, easy-access kitchen so you control your meals
  • Service dogs always welcome
  • Pet-friendly
  • Located in a peaceful gated resort community
  • High-speed WiFi, smart TVs, arcade, and resort amenities including gym and pickleball

After a long day at the festival, you deserve a space where you can decompress on your own terms — no noisy hotel corridors, no fighting for the elevator, no wondering if the accessible room is truly accessible.

Indio Access has 132 five-star reviews from guests who know firsthand what accessible travel should feel like.
